TAXES AND THE ECONOMY

Utah’s balanced budget law ensures that state government lives within its means. It is a major factor in Utah consistently being ranked as the #1 Best Managed State in America. However, that doesn’t stop government from increasing “the size of the pie” by raising taxes. I will stand strongly in opposition to tax increases.

Inflation has hit every home in Utah and I am deeply concerned how this affects Utahns everyday. State government budgets have never been bigger due to post-Covid spending. I stand staunchly opposed to frivolously spending your tax dollars and consistently work on legislative committees to find new ways to cut our costs and unnecessary spending.

We cannot tax ourselves out of additional budget issues. I believe strongly in the economic power of lowering taxes. You know best what you need and what you want. Not government. Lowering taxes allows business owners to invest in their companies, pay their employees, and ultimately create new jobs. As your legislator I will support lower taxes thereby encouraging individual and business spending, saving, and investing – all necessary for a healthy economy.
