Cutting Your Taxes Six Years in a Row
Since 2019, I have voted every year to cut Utah's income tax, helping reduce the rate by 11% overall amounting to $1.5 billion in yearly tax savings. This year, I also sponsored the bill cutting the gas tax by 15% and supported expanding the Child Tax Credit so more Utah families can qualify.
Protecting Your Children
I passed laws to protect parents’ access to their children’s medical records, strengthen privacy protections in school bathrooms and locker rooms, and increase penalties for the sexual exploitation of minors. I also sponsored and passed a major crackdown on youth vaping, driving a 66% reduction in vape sales.
Making Utah Safer
I worked to make Utah safer by cracking down on drug trafficking, improving probation and parole to reduce repeat offenses, and as Chair of Criminal Justice Appropriations, I’ve made sure tax dollars effectively align with our public safety goals.
Improving Utah Lake
Created the Utah Lake Authority taking control from the state and giving it to local elected leaders. Increased funding for improvements to marinas, paths, and environmental improvements. We still have a ways to go, but it is the cleanest it has been in 100 years.
Fighting for Utah County’s Future
I sponsored SJR008 to establish a law school at Utah Valley University, keeping more opportunity and talent here at home. I have also helped lead the effort to bring additional roads and infrastructure to Utah County, with $1.5 billion programmed between now and 2030.
